There are now plans for 60 mega-projects worth around Rs 2,000 crore.
In 2011-12, in the first eight months, the project expenditure was Rs 2.76 trillion -- a huge number.
But, after April 1 this year, according to figures available with the World Bank and released this week, building projects in the country in 2011-12 grew at a slower rate -- barely half the growth witnessed in 2010-11.
"A lot of people think the government is building the railways, roads and highways of the 21st century.
